If you live or work in Peel Region, consider the following questions:
- Do you care about the price of food?
- How and where your food is grown?
- How food is shared in our community?
- Access to healthy food? Access to unhealthy food?
If you answered yes to any of these questions (or many more) then you're in the right place, and we need your help!
The Peel Poverty Reduction Strategy launched its Food Security Taskforce in 2012. As one of its actions, the taskforce is creating a Peel Food Charter for the region that will express the community’s values and priorities for our food system. This process includes consulting with all stakeholders and building capacity within the food sector.
In 2014 we connected with more than 500 community members and service providers in Peel to begin the process of drafting a unique food charter for Peel Region, and in 2015 we released the first draft of our food charter for comments and feedback.
The draft food charter is linked in the button below.
From June - September 2015 we sought feedback from more than 350 individuals.
The draft food charter is now under review for edits and updates based on community feedback.
We'd love to hear from YOU!
